We hosted the first ever Summer Concert Series ~ Party on the Patio featuring the Darby 4 (or whatever you want to call them) for the youth group Tuesday night. While it has been unbearably hot here I prayed for a cool breeze & sure enough the threat of a rainstorm came & cooled things down...what's even better is that the rain held off!! We grilled burgers & hotdogs, hung out & heard some great music!! We had a decent turnout, but the main thing was that those who came had a great time! We are hoping to have another one towards the end of summer...so be on the look out!!!

Yesterday was Luke's 2nd birthday!! I can hardly believe it!! It seems like only yesterday we were bouncing him on the big exercise ball to calm him from crying!! While the first year was difficult, this past year has been full of fun times! He is really changing & growing each day. He is beginning to talk more & more...at least when he doesn't have his "baba" (pacifer) in his mouth. He is a very independent little guy. He is 100% all boy & stops at nothing! At the same time, though, he is very sweet & loving. We started the day off with a checkup with his ENT...so far his ears are looking good! One tube is still in, but both ears are clear! Yay for that news!! We ate Wendy's kids meals for lunch with Daddy & Grace and then we opened presents! He got several fun new toys & wasn't sure what to try out first. Among the favorites are his Busy Bee Bop Band set (a toy drum with other instruments), whale teeter totter & Handy Manny's tool set. We had a little Yo Gabba Gabba (one of his favorite TV shows) party for him last night. Nothing major...we just invited our neighbors over for hot dogs, cake & ice cream. He loved the icing on the cake & then devoured the Blue Bell vanilla ice cream! I think he had a great birthday overall!

...the Boomerang Express!!

We had Vacation Bible School this past week. The theme was Boomerang Express & it was set in the Australian Outback! I helped with snacks and Darren did preschool recreation. Grace had so much fun & looked forward to going each morning. She brought her little neighbor friend, Joanna, as her guest each day. Grace's favorite part was the Worship Rally...when they all gathered in the sanctuary each morning for the songs, skits & videos. She rocked out each morning & did a good job doing the hand motions to the songs. She had a little bit of a leg up on other kids because she watched Lala & Lauren as they learned the motions from the DVD! Grace also had to wear her hair like them each day...too funny! Luke had fun as well! I think he enjoyed all the attention given to him by the fun ladies who volunteered in his room. I bet if he could, he would say that snow cone Friday was his favorite day!! We all enjoyed it & are a bit worn out from the busy week!!
