First Days of School!!

The school year has begun! Grace started Kindergarten on Wednesday. Neither of us can believe that she is already old enough to be in Kindergarten! It feels like only yesterday we were bringing her home from the hospital. She has been waiting for school to start! She was very excited to start her day...ready to show off her new backpack & school clothes! This will be her last year at St. James Day School...so she is one of the "top dogs" at the school this year! She was excited to get homework on the second day of school! I think I'll tape her saying she's excited about homework to show her a few years down the road! There are many fun things in store for her (& us) this year & we are looking forward to this once-in-a-lifetime experience!!

Luke also started preschool this past Thursday. He is in the 2 year old program at St. James. He will go to school every Tuesday & Thursday morning. He seemed excited with his "Cars" rolling backpack, but that excitement didn't last long! He had a hard time the first morning & I'm pretty sure it'll take a few days before he adjusts to this new routine. I know he'll have fun & enjoy himself!

Fun in the Sun...

Grace got a Crayola Sidewalk Paint & Chalk set for her birthday, so we put it to the test a few days ago. Both kids had a ton of fun with it!! There were 3 different colors of paint...blue, yellow & pink...plus there were several colors of chalk & a paintbrush & roller. Grace painted her name, drew a sunshine & enjoyed painting pink polka dots on the driveway. I'm pretty sure Luke ended up with more paint on him than anywhere else, but he enjoyed himself!! I painted a hopscotch game...which both kids had fun playing! The paint dried quickly & is still on the driveway several days later (of course we haven't had any rain in the past few days)...plus it was easy to get off the kiddos when we were finished. As a whole, we give the Crayola product a 3 thumbs up!!!

Happy Birthday, Daddy!!

Darren's birthday is 2 days after Grace's. We celebrated with him while he was home for lunch. He got some new golf balls, tees & an hour private golf lesson at the country club!! Then after he headed back to work we began working on a cake for him...a yellow cake with chocolate icing...his favorite!! We surprised him with it after dinner that night!! We had a fun time!!

Lehrmann Productions Proudly Presents...

The Greatest Show on Earth...Grace's Birthday Circus & Carnival!
Come and see the Amazing Grace as she turns another year older, consumes heaping amounts of cake & ice cream and blows out the death defying birthday candles!!
(this was part of the invitation we sent out!!)

Grace turned 5 on August 8th! Neither one of us can believe that she is 5 years old! It seems like only yesterday... She immediately checked herself out in the mirror the morning of her birthday to see if she looked "older"! Too funny! She is so very excited to be 5!

She chose to have a carnival themed birthday (this might stem from us seeing Ringling Bros. Barnum & Bailey Circus last summer). We had it in the gym at our church. We set up a few "carnival" type games (basketball toss, bowling pin knockdown, pin the tail on the donkey, etc). The kids received tickets to play the games a few times & they got prizes at each station. They had fun taking turns whacking a clown pinata & of course we had the usual cake & ice cream! It turned out to be a fun party!! She enjoyed herself & the time with all of her friends! I think my favorite part was watching her as we sang "Happy Birthday" to her before she blew out the candles on her cake! She acted shy, but I knew she was really loving EVERY MINUTE of the song since it put her as the center of attention!! She was a hoot!

She racked in on the gifts! She got some cool Barbies (she LOVES Barbies right now), a Webkinz unicorn, a cool picture frame, a tea set & tea party book, Operation, a cool rolling tote with her name on it, some sidewalk chalk & paint, a few Polly Pockets toys, a do-it-yourself scrapbook kit, a V-Tech kids digital camera & money!

Overall, she had a very happy birthday!!!

Summertime, Summertime, Sum, Sum, Summertime...

We had a blast in July! We spent lots of time at the pool, played at the playground, had a visit from Nana, and took a trip to the Children's Museum of Memphis. Here are several pics from some of our fun times. We also had a mini pre-birthday celebration for Grace (which is August 8) while Nana was here. We love summer!!
