Slip-n-Slide Fun!!

While shopping at Target for school supplies we came across the 50% off summer aisle. On that very aisle was a good ol' slip-n-slide for a whopping $2.50! So, needless to say, we bought one for our new house & Nana got one to keep at her house. We had a great time that afternoon playing with our new toy!!

Granny!!

My Granny (who turned 93 this past December) was in staying with my Uncle in Victoria while the kids & I were visiting Nana & Papa. So, we got together with them & had lunch one day! It was fun to see her & have the kids spend some time with her as well!

Luke loved Uncle Curtis!!

Where's Luke?! (He was hiding from Uncle Curtis!)

Splashway!!

The walls of our little 2 bedroom apartment have started feeling like they are closing in on us, so they kids & I spent this week at Nana & Papa's house to get away for a few days!

On Tuesday, Nana & I took the kiddos to a little water park about an hour & a half away called, Splashway. Now, if you have grown up going to Schlitterbahn (a massive water park in New Braunsfels, TX) then Splashway seems teeny tiny. However, when you have little ones it is actually perfect!

Grace & Luke loved every minute of it! We packed a picnic lunch & just made a day of it! They rode slide after slide after slide! It never grew old to them...or me either! The joy on their faces made it all worth it! They splashed in the spouting water, floated with us in the lazy river, bounced up & down at the wave pool & just had tons of fun!!

(Disclaimer: I had to purchase one of those waterproof disposable cameras for the day because I refused to take my DSLR with us. So, the quality of the pics are poor to say the least, but you can still see how much fun was had by all!)

Food, Friends, Family & FUN!!

We had a great weekend celebrating the 4th of July with Darren's cousin & her family out at her best friends house. There was something for everyone! Washers, dominoes, Farkle, swimming, bouncy water slide, scooters, bikes, & the list goes on! There was also more food than we knew what to do with!! We all had such a great time & the kids were SO worn out both nights (which is always a plus)!! We ended the fun on Sunday with some fireworks & then headed home! Here are some pics from the fun we had!!

The World According to Grace...Chapter 15...

One night Grace asked for more apple juice in her cup. Since we only had a little bit left her cup had more water in it than juice. Darren handed it to her, she took 1 drink & then pushed the cup aside & said, "oh whatever." We couldn't help but laugh out loud because of her facial expression & tone of voice. This definitely proved to us we were in for a long, long road!! -2 1/2 years old

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
There was a time period that if Grace was hanging out with her Daddy & doing something I typically wouldn't allow she would tell him, "Ooh, Mom's gonna be so mad!" -3 years old
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I picked Grace up from school one day & I happened to not have any makeup on. She looked at me curiously & asked, "Mom, did you get new eyes?" Geez, is it that bad?! -3 years old

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Grace sneezed one day & didn't have a Kleenex nearby. She yelled out, "Wow, there are strings hanging from my nose!" Thankfully, we were at home!! -4 years old
Summer Saturday Fun
In Port Neches there are 2 great kid parks...Tugboat Island & the Spray Park. We ventured out last Saturday to play at both! Tugboat Island was amazing! It is HUGE!! It's rumored to be the 3rd largest playground of its type in the area! There are all sorts of tunnels, bridges, stairs & slides! Grace was off & running as soon as we walked through the gate. Luke was more timid (I was shocked)! I think the place actually overwhelmed him...like he didn't know which way to go first! One thing that did stop him was the dirt area. He was wearing his favorite shark Crocs & once he had one foot in the dirt he froze! You see, two things were wrong with this picture... 1.) his treasured shark Crocs were now dirty and 2.) his foot inside the treasured shark Crocs were dirty! So, I scooped him back up & put him back on the play scape area & far away from the dirt. It wasn't long before he was climbing & going nonstop though! He even ventured back out into the dirt once he was good & going...like he completely forgot about it! Tugboat Island was so much fun, however, it was way too hot! It wasn't long before we headed over to the Spray Park. I do see more time spent at Tugboat Island in our future...in cooler weather, of course!
The Spray Park is located right next door to Tugboat Island...conveniently! We quickly slathered on the sunscreen & popped in Luke's ear plugs & before long both kids were all wet! There was water shooting in every direction you can imagine! Luke was drawn to the big water canon type things...he could aim them whichever way he wanted. Grace liked standing under the big palm trees waiting for the coconut to fill with water & tip over on her head! It was such a fun way to spend a hot day!!
