Last Saturday we woke up & headed to Crystal Beach, along the South East Texas Gulf Coast. Grace absolutely LOVES the beach...everything about it...the sun, the sand & most of all the water. Luke, however, is a different story. The past 2 summers that we have taken trips to the beach he hasn't been such a huge fan. He hates the sand & how it gets all over everything...especially his hands & feet. He is content to stay put on a towel or chair just to stay out of the sand! This time around he ended up liking it. He complained at the very beginning, but had fun once he got going!
Being Memorial Day weekend it was rather crowded, but we got there early enough to get a good spot. We stayed for a few hours splashing in the water, building sand castles & hunting for seashells. It was fun day! We are excited to be back closer to the Gulf Coast. I love the beach & spent time there every summer as a kid, so I am excited to do the same with our kids. I am hoping we can hit a few of the areas around the Texas Gulf Coast that have decent waves for surfing. Of course our boards are still in Mississippi, so we would need to make a road trip to get them first!
This is minutes after we arrived...she wastes no time!
This was his initial reaction to the sand & water!

Look, Mom, I found a seashell!

Hard at work...

Her sandcastle!
Heading out to get water...

This is what Luke & Daddy were doing...pouring water in a hole they dug!

So glad he likes the beach now!
