Snow!!!!

It has been a weird winter here!! We have had several close calls with snow, but nothing to write home about. There have been at least 3 days where flakes were falling from the sky, but once they hit the ground they were gone.

Well, this past Thursday night that all changed! It started snowing sometime that evening & it continued well after we went to bed. It had already begun to stick by 8:30ish that night so we let the kids put on their gear & head out to play. Grace was so very excited!! It has snowed at least once each year for the past 2 years so she has come to expect it. She has prayed every night this winter that it would snow! This was really Luke's first time to understand what was going on. He was content to stand on the sidewalk & watch as Grace played, but he did have a big smile on his face the entire time. We headed back in to get ready for bed & Grace was praying for a snow day the next day.

I love this pic of the kids! Grace is holding a snowball in her right hand...look at her facial expression & then at Luke's! Priceless!!!

The next morning we woke up to Grace already dressed in her clothes (she laid them out the night before!) and she was ready to head out to play! School ended up not being cancelled because there wasn't enough to hinder driving conditions. Needless to say Grace, along with every other student in the Delta, was NOT a happy camper! We let her play for about 20 minutes as long as she agreed to eat a pop tart in the car on the way to school. She was happy again! So, out we went! It was beautiful! I love seeing everything covered in white and I love how peaceful it is. I know if I had to deal with it every winter and of course having much, much more than we had that it would get old, but it is still so beautiful. Grace wasted no time making snowballs, a snow angel and just running crazily through the yard! Luke still had fun, but would rather stay on the sidewalk! He wasn't into it much until Grace & I starting building ol' Frosty. Once he saw what I was doing he was all for the snow! He LOVED Frosty! After we finished Frosty Grace went it to get ready for school, but Luke wanted to stay out and talk to Frosty! He loved that he had a carrot nose, but he was most concerned about his mouth. I used the tongue out of his Mr. Potato Head box so he wanted to make sure we got it back!

The snow lasted until around noon that day, although Frosty remained until Sunday afternoon. It wasn't much, but we sure enjoyed what we got!! It'll keep us happy until next time!!
